Sands End Carpet Cleaners Terms and Conditions

Carpet cleaning technician preparing equipment for a scheduled serviceThese Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Sands End Carpet Cleaners provides carpet cleaning and related upholstery or fabric care services to residential and commercial customers in the UK. By making a booking, confirming a quotation, or allowing work to begin, the customer agrees to be bound by these terms. They are intended to create a clear, fair, and practical agreement covering service scope, pricing, access, cancellations, liability, waste handling, and governing law. Where a term is unclear, it should be interpreted in a way that is consistent with UK consumer and contract law.

Throughout these terms, references to "we", "us", and "our" mean Sands End Carpet Cleaners, and references to "you" and "the customer" mean the person, business, landlord, tenant, or authorised representative who places the booking. These terms apply whether the service is arranged for a single room, a full property, or a larger cleaning requirement. They are designed to support transparent service delivery and to help avoid misunderstandings about what is included in a professional carpet cleaning appointment.

Professional carpet cleaning process in a residential interiorThe service we provide may include carpet cleaning, stain treatment, deodorising, spot removal, upholstery cleaning, rug cleaning, and similar fabric cleaning tasks, depending on what has been agreed in advance. Any additional services requested on the day are subject to technician availability, inspection, and revised pricing where applicable. Unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, quotations are based on the information supplied by the customer and may be adjusted if the actual condition, size, access, or material type differs from the description provided at the time of booking.

Bookings may be made through the channels offered by the company at the time of request. A booking is only confirmed once we have accepted the job, agreed a date or time window, and, where applicable, received a deposit or pre-authorisation. We may ask for photographs, floor plans, or details of the fabric and soiling level before confirming the appointment. This helps us assign the right equipment, estimate the required time, and identify any special treatment that may be needed. If a service is time-sensitive, the customer should tell us in advance so we can assess whether it can be accommodated.

All bookings must be made by an adult who has the authority to approve the work. The customer is responsible for ensuring that the information given is accurate, including room count, access restrictions, parking limitations, water supply, electrical supply, and any known risks. If inaccurate or incomplete information results in extra labour, delay, or additional materials, we may charge a reasonable supplementary fee. We also reserve the right to decline or reschedule a booking if the property conditions are unsafe, if the requested work falls outside our normal service scope, or if the customer has outstanding unpaid balances.

Cleaning specialist treating a carpet with equipment and solutionWhen the technician arrives, the customer or an authorised adult should be present to confirm the work required and to approve any changes to the original plan. If no one is available, we may be unable to proceed. The customer must ensure reasonable access to the areas being cleaned and that furniture or valuables are moved where necessary unless moving items has been included in the quotation. We will take reasonable care when working around personal belongings, but the customer remains responsible for removing fragile, precious, or irreplaceable items before the appointment begins.

Our prices are normally based on the size of the area, the type of fibres or materials, the condition of the items, the level of contamination, and the equipment or cleaning solutions required. Unless stated otherwise, prices are exclusive of any special treatment requested after inspection. We may also charge for parking fees, congestion charges, tolls, specialist stain work, or waste disposal costs where such charges are incurred in connection with the service. Any such additional charges will be explained as early as reasonably possible.

Payments are due in the manner and at the time agreed when the booking is made. This may include payment on completion, advance payment, or part-payment for larger jobs. Unless a different arrangement is confirmed, the invoice is payable immediately upon completion of the service. We may accept card payment, bank transfer, cash, or other methods that are offered at the time of booking. If an invoice remains unpaid after the due date, we may charge statutory interest and recover reasonable costs of collection where permitted by law. We also reserve the right to suspend future work until overdue sums are settled in full.

Discounts, promotional rates, and special offers are offered at our discretion and may be withdrawn or amended without notice where this is lawful. Where a quote is given as an estimate, the final price may vary depending on the actual amount of work carried out. We will always aim to explain significant changes before proceeding. Customers should review invoices promptly and raise any billing questions within a reasonable period so that any genuine mistakes can be corrected efficiently. Failure to object in a timely manner does not remove your legal rights, but it may affect our ability to investigate the issue accurately.

Technician completing a carpet care appointment in a propertyCancellations should be made as early as possible. If you cancel or reschedule with sufficient notice, we will usually attempt to offer a new appointment without penalty, subject to availability. Where a deposit has been paid, its refundability will depend on the notice period, the amount of preparation already undertaken, and any non-recoverable costs we have incurred. If you cancel late, refuse access, or fail to provide the information needed for the job to proceed, we may charge a cancellation fee that reflects our reasonable loss of time and resources.

If we need to cancel or reschedule due to staff illness, equipment failure, unsafe conditions, weather disruption, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control, we will notify you as soon as practicable and offer an alternative appointment. We will not be liable for indirect loss resulting from a rescheduled visit, provided we have acted reasonably. In some cases, if the premises are unsuitable for cleaning, we may stop work or postpone the appointment in the interests of safety and service quality. Examples include severe infestation, structural hazards, active leaks, or environmental contamination.

The customer may be liable for wasted attendance charges where our team arrives at the agreed time but is unable to begin work because access is not available, parking restrictions were not disclosed, utilities are unavailable where required, or the property is not reasonably prepared for the service. This includes situations where keys are not present, the wrong address has been given, or the person authorising the work is absent. The purpose of these charges is not to penalise the customer unfairly but to cover genuine costs that arise from a missed or aborted appointment.

Final check of cleaned carpet area after service completionWe will carry out our work with reasonable care and skill, using equipment and products that are appropriate for the surfaces and conditions identified. However, carpet cleaning and fabric restoration can involve inherent limitations, particularly where items are old, damaged, colour-sensitive, heavily stained, water-marked, badly worn, or previously treated with unsuitable products. We cannot guarantee complete removal of all stains, odours, marks, or wear patterns. Natural variation in texture, pile, shading, and drying may occur and does not in itself indicate a fault in the service.

Our liability is limited to losses that are reasonably foreseeable and directly caused by our breach of contract or negligence, subject to any rights you have under UK law that cannot be excluded. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Where we are responsible for proven damage, our liability may be capped at the lower of the amount paid for the relevant service or the cost of reasonable repair or replacement, depending on the circumstances and the applicable law.

We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, hidden faults, weak seams, unsecured dyes, fading from previous exposure, shrinkage caused by unsuitable materials, or issues arising from normal wear and tear. Customers should tell us about any special sensitivities, previous cleaning attempts, manufacturer instructions, or material concerns before work begins. If you ask us to proceed against our recommendation, you do so at your own risk, provided our advice was clear and reasonable. Any claim for damage should be reported promptly and, where possible, before the item is moved or altered after the service.

Customers must provide a safe working environment. This includes reasonable access, adequate lighting, suitable ventilation, and information about hazards such as broken fixtures, exposed wiring, biological contamination, pest issues, or slippery surfaces. We may refuse to work in conditions that are unsafe, unhygienic, or likely to cause damage to people, property, or equipment. Where appropriate, we may request that the customer signs a work acknowledgment before cleaning begins, confirming that the area has been inspected and that the service parameters are understood.

Any items removed from the premises for disposal, treatment, or cleansing-related waste handling will be managed in accordance with applicable UK waste regulations and environmental requirements. This includes the proper segregation, containment, transport, and disposal of waste materials such as used cloths, spent filters, contaminated packaging, recovered debris, and other waste generated during the service. We will act responsibly and use lawful disposal methods. The customer remains responsible for disclosing whether any waste is hazardous, contaminated, or subject to special handling requirements, as this may affect whether the service can be safely completed.

Where cleaning produces wastewater, residue, or extracted contaminants, we will dispose of them in a manner that is consistent with environmental standards and site-specific restrictions. We will not knowingly place prohibited substances into drains, on land, or into bins where doing so would breach waste or environmental laws. If the premises have special restrictions, such as managed buildings or sensitive drainage systems, the customer must inform us before the appointment. Any additional disposal cost, equipment, or labour required because of special waste conditions may be charged extra where lawful and reasonable.

All intellectual property rights in our service materials, methods, written quotations, and website-free informational content remain ours unless otherwise agreed. The customer may not copy or reproduce our documents for commercial use without permission. These Terms and Conditions do not create a partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship between the parties. If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in our operations, legal obligations, or service structure. The version in force at the time of booking will normally apply to that booking unless a change is required by law. If a variation is needed for a specific job, it must be agreed in writing. No employee or contractor has authority to vary these terms orally unless such variation is confirmed by an authorised representative of the company.

These terms, and any dispute or claim arising from or connected with them, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to any mandatory consumer rights or other applicable jurisdictional rules. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to remove or reduce any statutory rights available to consumers under UK law. By proceeding with a booking, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions for Sands End Carpet Cleaners.
